Welcome to Arta’s Family Homestay – An idyllic village stay

In this peaceful retreat, you can lend a hand in the garden and explore the surroundings from the homestay. Everything here still feels natural, with a relaxed rural pace as you wander through the rice fields. In the evening, if the sky is clear, gaze at the stars as crickets chirp around you.

Meet Your Kanga Host

The host family looking forward to welcoming you is Kadek Arta and his wife Mila, along with their two children Citra and Adit, as well as their grandparents Katir and Nyoman. Arta is a passionate tour guide, driver, and photographer. He is especially fond of his roosters and apparently also a fan of tattoos. The grandparents take care of the pigs, cows, and catfish as small scale farmers, while also cultivating coffee plants and managing various other tasks around the homestead.

Your Accommodation

This Kanga Homestay is set in a truly rural setting, surrounded by the calm of the countryside. The property includes the main family building, a small separate building with a guest room, a pavilion, a family temple, and a courtyard where chickens roam freely.

In the morning, you can join Mila as she makes the daily offerings in the family temple, and afterwards cook together with the hosts. Later in the garden, you will be amazed by the variety of vegetables and plants they grow. From turmeric and ginger to chilli, from cassava and spinach to jackfruit and coconut, the list feels endless. We especially loved seeing vanilla growing here!

Rice Fields, Waterfalls and Artisans

Enjoy strolling along the narrow ridges between the rice fields, then continue to a nearby waterfall. On the way back, stop by a local juice bar to sip on a refreshing juice.

The region is known for wood carving art, and here you can relax alongside the artisans and watch them at work.

In the evening, gather with the locals at a nearby warung, enjoying a drink, playing billiards, or a game of chess.

The village is not touristy at all, but it is well located for reaching well known places such as the Tegallalang Rice Terraces, Ulu Petanu Waterfall, and the Pura Gunung Kawi Sebatu Temple. Arta will gladly take you there if you wish and can also arrange hikes on Mount Batur, fishing trips, and other activities.
