Meet Your Kanga Host

At Kumudu and Anil’s family home, you will quickly feel like part of the family and may never want to leave. Their two children have very different characters. Daughter Siluni is calm and reflective, enjoys reading English books, loves animals, and likes having her friends over. Tenul, on the other hand, is a playful and clever boy who loves to talk, mostly in English, which he has picked up mainly from TV cartoons. Anil is laid-back yet full of energy. He is full of ideas and always up to something, with his surroundings constantly buzzing and developing around him.

Your Accommodation

From the rooftop of your homestay, you might see a kingfisher, a Sri Lanka white-eye, or even a blue magpie. In Neluwa, you feel as if you are right in the middle of the jungle anyway, and in fact, you are close to the Sinharaja Rain Forest Reserve.

The building offers real comfort for guests and is one of Anil’s many projects. It started with just the ground floor and gradually developed into several floors with multiple guest rooms, all with their own private bathrooms.

It goes without saying that the kitchen is where the magic happens. That’s where you’ll get ready to prepare the signature egg curry. By the way in Sri Lanka, food always tastes better when you eat with your hands.

Adventures and Everyday Discoveries

Do you fancy a ride to a waterfall, a temple, or a tea factory? Along the way, a neighbour might show you their turmeric harvest, and at the next shop, you can try kithul honey, a natural sweet syrup made from the sap of the kithul palm.

For the return, you can take a refreshing dip in the Gin Ganga. And in the evening, you might even be a surprise guest in Anil’s English class for the local kids.
