Meet Your Kanga HostsYour main host, Jadah, is an artist, musician, farmer, and passionate cook, whose love for organic, fresh food is reflected in every dish he prepares. His energy is contagious and his cooking will introduce you to the flavours of Swahili cuisine in the most authentic way.

Samuel, fondly referred to as Teacha, is a highly proficient art teacher specialising in traditional Swahili painting and an incredibly gifted guitarist, always ready to share painting techniques, music or captivating stories.

Juma, the youngest, adds joy and playfulness to the daily chores, ranging from tending the farm to playing with the Homestay’s friendly dogs.

Your AccommodationThe house itself is a true work of art, constructed primarily from natural materials. Your private room on the first floor features a small terrace – perfect for watching the sunrise. The downstairs kitchen becomes a lively space for gatherings when meals are prepared, while a separate building houses a modern shower and toilet.

A special highlight is the outdoor stage, that comes alive with music workshops, jam sessions and creative expressions. By day, the flourishing garden invites you to relax and snack on fresh fruits. As the night unfolds, the bonfire spot becomes a hub of storytelling and music.

Unleash Your Creativity – Swahili ArtEmbrace the creative spirit of The Garden of Peace by joining an art workshop. Under Samuel’s guidance, you can explore traditional Swahili painting techniques and create your own unique artwork inspired by Zanzibar’s rich artistic heritage.
