Meet Your Kanga HostsAturebeca, a gentle and charming individual with an open-minded spirit, is a dedicated college manager and teacher specializing in hotel and tourism subjects. She lives with her family in Moivaro, which includes her husband Isai Mbilu and their three children, although not all reside there currently.

Over a cup of chai, your host will happily share the many meanings of the Kanga, the vibrant fabric worn by women across East Africa. She’ll tell you about the proverbs printed on them, the messages they carry, and the different ways they can be styled – whether wrapped elegantly around the body, draped as a shawl, or tied as a baby carrier.

Your AccommodationJust look at these magnificent flower pots and wonderful rooms with beautifully patterned floors and turquoise walls! Moivaro Homestay is a sparkling jewel. The small garden is vibrant with avocado, lime, mango, and banana plants, creating a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Guests can pick fresh fruits directly from the plants and prepare them in the kitchen. Aturebeca and her family also breed chickens and rabbits, enhancing the guests’ small-scale farm experience.

A cozy hut in their garden, perfect for picnics, was built as part of a school project, reflecting the family’s engagement with community and education.
