Meet Your Kanga Host

Your host, Tatu, is a loving mother of five; two boys and a lively set of 8-year-old triplet girls. She welcomes you into her home with open arms and treats you as part of the family from the moment you arrive. Whether preparing meals together or exploring traditional women’s crafts, she’ll introduce you to the rich customs of Zanzibari life.

Her husband, a dedicated electrician and father, returns home in the evenings to join the family. Their children bring energy to the homestay and will happily teach you some of their favourite Swahili songs, show you how to crack a coconut with ease or guide you through the village and along the beach.

Your Accommodation

Tatu’s Family Homestay blends comfort with tradition. As you step through a beautifully carved Zanzibari wooden door, you’ll enter a spacious living room, where meals and conversations are shared. Your private guest room provides a cosy space, that offers a peaceful retreat after a day full of experiences.

The outdoor area is surrounded by swaying palm trees. Small local shops are just around the corner and a 2 minutes’ walk will take you to Jambiani Beach, where you can enjoy the ocean breeze or take a dip in the warm waters.
